Changing the way we do assessments will also help fix the dropout issue in Su.
Here's why..
Students feel bad
If students get some bad grades for some reasons, while most of the other students score good, they might feel like stupid, not smart enough, others are better than them...etc....
These kids may start to "label" themselves while others look down to them. This gets even worse escpecialy if they try and fail to score good..
Chances taken away
What if someone in got bad grades in the beginning and later in the third semester finally understands better. Because of bad grades in the beginnen he/she might not pass, despite the fact that he/she, just like other students, understand everyting in the third semester and are on the same level.
So this proves how bad the traditional assesment can be.
How assesments can be done better.
"Most of our testing is multiple choice tests, pick one answer out of five, which is something you will never do in applying knowledge in the real world. Our assessments need to evolve to reflect the skills and knowledge that we actually value and that we need schools to teach and our children to learn."
