Presentation "Wolves" (5th grade)

Here's a cool presentation I assisted my daughter with. She's in 5th grade and had to do a presentation about wolves. As source she got a book from the school library. We used the books structure ( chapters ) to create the slides.

"Kids love technology"

She was very excited from the day she was given the assignment. And even more excited because she could use a big flatscreen to show images or video's. I was almost reminded everyday to help her make an presentation.

"Google"

I decided to use Google images to search for images and have her make the selections. We can't allow kids to search pictures on the internet alone, right?
We used Google Presentation to create the slides. This can be done from drive.google.com but an email adres is required. Google Presentation also allows collaborating. We could work on the same file from different computers.
Pictures can be inserted easily from computer, phone or a hyperlink to an image on internet. From Google Presentation the slides can be downloaded as PDF or one picture per slide. This allows presenting with a USB stick on a Television without internet.

"Technology is not all"

Even though we had created a beautiful presentation, it was very important to know the content as well. This means she had to read trough the book. Understanding is necessary for a fluid presentation.
For every slide she had to read the corresponding chapter in the book and pick keywords. Practicing with the slides is also very important. Time needed can be measured, but also allows getting back to the book if something was forgotten. This improves retention of the content in memory.
